Welcome
Free to Be.
Free to Be is becoming an increasingly popular evening experience at Durham cathedral.
The focus is on creating a non-directive space in which people might have the opportunity of encountering Christ through stillness, beauty, music, reflection and a simple Eucharist. Creativity is at the heart of this evolving event and those who come speak of being moved, inspired, uplifted and of finding a deep sense of inner peace. Whether you are a person of faith, or simply on a journey of discovery, we would love to welcome you one evening.
We are taking a little break over advent and Christmas. The next Free to Be is on Monday 30 January 2012. Time: 7.30pm – 9pm. The event is free and there is no need to pre-book. For more information please e-mail Michael Volland at: m.j.volland@durham.ac.uk

thank you
January’s event was AMAZING… can’t wait until the next one. The guy who led compline had the most wonderful and calming voice. THANKS TEAM.
It sounds amazing – wish I could come but its a long way from cirencester. Can I ask a question: which short eucharistic prayer are you using?
Tonight’s “Free to Be” was utterly wonderful – the atmospheric sounds and music in the Cathedral (supplied I understand by Cramner students) was inspirational and the candlelit Cathedral looked so beautiful, it all made the simple Eucharist special beyond words. Thank you to everyone who put this memorable experience together. I’ll be watching your website for the next one.
